The popularity of timeshare properties has grown many times over during the last several decades. Currently more than 2 million Americans own timeshares both in and out of the USA. Unfortunately this rise in popularity also led to an increase in the number of scams and cases of fraud. the increase in cases of fraud over the last several years has made a questionable for some. When choosing to buy a timeshare property. In part, these scams have led to a new style of alternatives that should be considered alongside traditional timeshare ownership. since timeshare ownership provides an economical solution to large family vacations every year, in contrast to staying at a hotel or resort. These new alternatives should be considered as well as an affordable way to vacation.

But on the flip side of it, buying a timeshare requires large upfront fee and the timeshares typically range anywhere from ten thousand dollars to fifty thousand dollars also. On top of that the buyers have to pay the annual maintenance fee, property taxes, management fee etc. which could range from few hundreds to over a thousand also. People have begun realizing that why pay more money and still use the same property every year for only one week. And people get bored of going to the same place again and again.

A timeshare property with an exchange program allows the owner to change the use of their timeshare for the use of a different unit at another a resort or different location. The only drawback to this is that there are typically a fees issue associated with the exchange and exchanging the use of the property depends on availability. You might be able to find a lifetime membership at a resort for approximately $3000. This would be a pretty good deal. They may also offer a limited five-year membership for a little bit less. This resort membership would give you access to the resort when ever you want to go and would likely allow the use of other resorts within that company's network. So, this could be an affordable vacation solution.

Condo hotels are another new concept that have been gaining popularity as of late. Currently there are few owners, but the concept is receiving high reviews and seems to work well. Essentially, you would be buying a condo in a high-class hotel and receiving all the benefits and amenities available at the hotel. If you are not using your condo you can put it up for rent and receive a percentage of the revenue that it produces. Compared to a timeshare property a condo hotel may offer you more flexibility and a wider range of amenities across a variety of locations.

Although resort memberships and condo hotel programs are gaining popularity and momentum within the vacation industry, traditional timeshare properties remain an affordable solution for your long-term investment. As with any other major purchase. It is always wise to thoroughly research the alternatives before spending your hard earned money.
